automate the submission and processing of the forms. Of course,
changes in the processing of such data should be accompan ied by
rethinking (i.e., "reengineering") the data's collection,
especially toward making the data more usable and reducing burden .
In the first submission for this information collection on or after
05/2005, DOL and PBGC shall provide a plan and schedule to: (1)
make the data more usable, (2) make the data more timely (ind
icating the timeliness and (3) reduce the burden, indicating the
burden reduction.

Sections 104 and 4065 of ERISA require
plan administrators to file an annual report. The report must
contain the information described in section 103 of ERISA. The Form
5500 Series provides a standard format for fulfilling that
requirement.
