This information
collection request is associated with the proposed rule under RIN
0648-AS47. This ICR is not approved at this time. OMB notes that
the agency's burden estimate showing a reduction through a program
change of -8570 hours is not consistent with the increase in the
number of respondents described in the submission. This discrepancy
must be explained in the submission associated with the final
rule.

National Marine Fisheries Service
(NMFS) manages the crab fisheries in the waters off the coast of
Alaska under the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Bering Sea and
Aleutian Islands (BSAI) Crab. Amendments 18 and 19 amend the FMP to

amended the Magnuson-Stevens Act to require the Secretary of
Commerce to approve the Program. The Program reallocates BSAI crab
resources among harvesters, processors, and coastal communities.
This collection-of-information addresses the VMS requirements for
the Program.
