HINTS is intended to be a biennial,
cross-sectional probability survey of the U.S. civilian adult
population. The purpose of funding a national survey to assess
health communication processes is to provide communication
researchers with unbiased population estimates of the prevalence of
cancer-relevant knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. The second
cycle of HINTS II, is a survey of 7,000 respondents and has two
priorities: (1) to preserve the methodological integrity of the
survey and (2) to experiment with alternatives modes of data
collection.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
