This information collection is
required for the USPTO to fulfill its duties under the provisions
of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The general purpose of the
PCT is o stadardize the applica tion format and filing procedures,
enabling applicants to file one international application in one
location, in one language, and pay one initial set of fees to seek
protection for an invention in more than 100 designated contries.
Recent amendments to the PCT regulations that will be effective
January 1, 2004, have also simplified the PCT application process
and fee structur resulting in the delection of two forms in this
collection. .....
