Approved as
amended by CMS' memo dated 12/1/2003, which gives hospitals the
option of reporting one month prospectively or reporting for the
previous year, and utilizes paid hours rather than FTEs to for
reporting purposes. Because this is a new requirement, OMB is
granting approval for 2 rather than 3 years. CMS will carefully
monitor the implementation of this survey and continue to work with
hospitals to maximize the practical utility of the information
collected, while minimizing the burden on providers.
