In the course of administering
environmental protection statues, EPA collects data from thousands
of facilities in many sectors of the U.S. economy. In addition,
businesses submit information to EPA without the Agency requesting
it. In many cases, business that submit information claim it to be
confidential business information (CBI). EPA established the
procedures described in 40 CFR Part 2, subpart B, to protect the
confident- iality of information as well as the rights of the
public to obtain access to information under the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA).
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
