Form W-7A isused to apply for an
Internal Revenue Service tax- payer identification number (an ATIN)
for use in pending adoptions. An ATIN is a temporary nine-digit
number issued by the IRS to individuals who are in the process of
adopting a U.S. resident child but who cannot get a social security
number for that child until the adoption is final.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
