The governmental unit charged with
preventing the spread of animal diseases within the US is the VS
Division of APHIS, USDA. Recently, two tuberculosis-affected herds
were detected in New Mexico. We are therefore publishing an interim
rule to remove New Mexico from the list of accredited-free States
and add it to the list of modified accredited advanced States. We
are taking this action to help prevent the spread of bovine
tuberculosis from New Mexico to other areas of the US.
