Internal Revenue Service code states
that an employer must furnish wage and tax information to SSA. SSA
is providing this free service to employers to verify that their
employees have a correct name/SSN match. EVS allows employers to
check the correctness of their records against SSA's records.
Employers use EVS on a voluntary basis to decrease the amount of
time spent filling out IRS form W-2C to correct errors.
