The FTC proposes to survey
approximately 530 consumers to examine the effect of broker
compensation disclosures on consumers' ability to accurately
compare the relative costs of alternative loans. The study findings
will be used to help inform HUD in its consideration of mortgage
broker compensation disclosures set forth in a recently proposed
HUD rule. The FTC will also screen up to 1,750 consumers to
identify eligible consumers for the survey.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
