The information
collection provisions associated with the Fire Protection in
Shipyards NPRM are not approved at this time. DOL is examining
public comment in response to this NPRM, including the paperwork
requirements. OSHA is also re-examining the paperwork provisions
considered to be usual and customary business practice. The
preamble to the final rule will address this issue as well as
respond to any public comments received.

The proposed Fire Protection in
Shipyard Employment Standard is based on the recommendations of the
Fire Protection in Shipyard Employment Negotiated Rulemaking
Advisory Committee and is a comprehensive standard for the
protection of shipyard employment workers from the hazards of fir
on land side and on board vessels.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
