The Federal Communications Commission
has requested that Nielsen Media Research conduct a survey
regarding the media usage habits of Americans. The focus of this
survey will be to gather accurate and current data regarding where
Americans obtain news and curent event information. The FCC is
preparing to begin a far-reaching inquiry of media ownership
reglations and needs to have an accurate understanding of which
media outlets (i.e. broadcast TV, Internet, newspapers, radio,
cable television, etc.) Americans rely on for news. This survey
will help the Commission understand which of its broadcast
ownership regulations continue to be .....
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
