MMS uses the information to determine
the necessity for allowing a well to be temporarily abandoned and
that the temporary abandonment will not pose a threat to other
users of the seabed. We also use the information to verify that the
lessee/operator is diligently pursuing final disposition of a well
and has performed the temporary plugging of the wellbore and marked
the location. Respondents are Federal lesseess and operators on the
Outer Continental Shelf.
