2003, Census should provide detailed information on response rates
for data collected during the first 6 months of 2003. Response rate
information should be broken down by number of responses received
from initial mailings, number received after nonresponse followup
and number imputed. A summary of survey coverage and possible ways
to improve response rates should be included.

This survey representing firms
primarily engaged in merchant wholesale trade in the United States
by selected kinds of business provides the only continous measure
of monthly wholesale sales, end-of-month inventories, method of
inventory valuation, and inventories/sales ratios. The Bureau of
Economic Analysis (BEA) uses this information on methods of
valuation and changes in these methods to improve the inventory
valuation adjustments applied to estimates of the gross domestic
