Under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act
of 1990 P.L. 101-644, an "Indian" is defined as "any individual who
is a member of an Indian tribe, or for the purposes of this section
is certified as an Indian artisan by an Indian tribe." It is
voluntary for a tribe to establish a certification program in
accordance with 25 C.F.R. Part 309.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
