FERC-550 is used by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to
determine whether oil pipeline transportation rates are just and
reasonable. Based on this analysis, the Commission takes action to
suspend, accept or reject proposed rates. The timely collection of
this information is necessary for a streamlined Commission porcess
and to meet statutory deadlines. The Commission's regulations
require oil pipeline companies to file rate change tariffs as
warranted, for the transportation of crude oil and petroleum
products.
