This information
collection request is approved for three years. OIRA commends FERC
on its efforts to reduce burden by eliminating unnecessary
schedules and encourages the Agency to continue to evaluate its
data needs. OIRA also encourages FERC to continue to re-assess its
need to make reported information publicly available. Specifically,
FERC should weigh the regulatory oversight benefits it gains from
making the information public against the potential harm the
information release may cause companies operating in a competitive
environment. FERC should consider what changes in the
confidentiality of business information are appropriate to promote
competition within the increasingly competitive market. When FERC
resubmits this information collection request for renewal, it
should provide a discussion describing its evaluation of the need
for confidential treatment of data.
