with OMB by July 2002 to discuss plans for electronic submission of
this and other forms. The plan will include (1) a description of
how this information will be electronically filed and (2) a
timeline and justification of the timeline for electronic
submission. Upon the next submission of this information
collection, INS will determine whether this form requires
revisions, additions, or if this form is necessary at all, given
student visa related regulatory requirements. By 1/25/02, INS will
submit a revised I-515 to include the burden statement.

This form is used by the INS to allow
an alien seeking to enter the United States as a student (F-1 or
M-1) or exchange visitor (J-1), who does not have the proper
documents, to enter for a 30-day period to obtain the requied
documents and submit them to the office of jurisdiction over the
applicant's school.
