The Rule requires manufacturers to
disclose energy information about major household appliances to
enable consumers purchasing appliances to compare energy use or
efficiency of competing models. The goal of the Rule is to promote
energy conservation by permitting and encouraging consumers to
compare the energy efficiency or consumption (or water use) of
competing products and to weigh that with other product features
before making purchases.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
