collection request is approved consistent with DOL's memo of
4/4/2001, which revised the phrasing of the request for demographic
data to be more neutral. Approval is extended for 18 months, at
which time DOL is to resubmit the collection for approval. This
submission will include an analysis of response rates &
response bias, and a discussion of the effectiveness of the
incentives used, including the use of first-class postage
stamps.

The O*Net Data Collection Program will
yield information on worker and job charactgeristics to populate
the O*Net (Occupational Information Network) database. O*Net is
replacing the obsolete Dictionary of Occupational Titles, and will
be used for a wide range of purposes related to employment and
training program administation, career counseling and development,
training curriculum design, Employment Service job matching and
referral, development of Labor Market Information, rehabilitation
and disability programs, and private sector human resources
