In accordance
with 5 CFR 1320, the information collection is approved for a
period of three years. However, prior to using the approved forms,
the agency must revise all forms to reflect the burden accurately
and must explain why respondents are required to submit three
copies of the form to USDA. The agency must also provide OMB with a
set of instructions for completing the approved form which does not
assume respondent's familiarity with the form.

AFIDA requires foreign persons to
timely report held, acquired or transferred U.S. agricultural land
under penalty of law. The information collected is utilized in the
preparation of reports to Congress and to monitor foreign
investment in the U.S.
