The Patent and Trademark Office (PTO),
in support of the Government Paperwork Elimination Act (GPREA) and
its own electronic filing and other electronic commerce
initiatives, has implemented a Public Key Infrastructure (PK) to
support electronic commerce between PTO and its customers. The GPEA
directs federal agencies to implement electronic commerce systems
to both disseminate and collect information from their customers,
while at the same time taking the necessary steps to ensure the
security, validity, and authentication of the electronic
information. The public has to be confident at their etc..
