Because occupational transmission of
bloodborne pathogens and antibiotic resistance cause significant
morbidity and costs, CDC has undertaken several initiatives to
increase compliance with current recommendations. A random sample
of 5,000 U.S. dentists will be surveyed for office policies,
awareness of current guidelines, and antibiotic use. The data will
be useful for targeting intervention strategies.
