We understand
that the Coast Guard program office will follow-up with a response
to the September 10 comments involving checklists for uninspected
vessels. The Program Office's October 25 response states that "we
are researching the topic and will address your question in further
corresponance". Please provide a copy of your response for our
Docket.__A response was provided on 12/23/99. Note: We are not
convinced that the followup is completely responsive. We noted in
separate E-mail of 12/15/99 that the placarding requirements are
not noticed in the same fashion as other requirements in
46CFR184.240. Also, the copy of the checklist from the Subchapter T
inspection book did not say anything about checking for
placards.
