The FCC is
encouraged to adopt electronic filing to the extent practicable and
is also encouraged to continually evaluate other sources of
information that could be used to replace this collection. The FCC
has permission to use an edition date in lieu of an expiration
date. Because OMB expects the FCC to revise this collection before
filing for the next extension, FCC does not have permission to
delete the expiration date. Additionally, the FCC shall insure that
the appropriate Burden Statement and notices are provided to
respondents in the actual instrument.

In a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, CS
Docket No. 98-61, FCC-98-79, released April 30, 1998, the
Commission sought comment on a proposal to eliminate or modify the
process of collecting form 325. Form 325 solicits basic operational
information from all U.S. cable systems, including the operator's

channel usage; and number of subscribers. The Commission has now
adopted final rules in a Report and Order in the proceeding that
modify form 325 and streamline the process of collecting the
form.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
