This collection is to protect American
agriculture from exotic plant pests likely to cause immense
economic damage if established in the U.S. Recent incidents have
occurred where exotic plant pests were discovered in solid wood
items used to pack commodities from China. We will require that any
solid wood items used to pack commodities imported from China are
heat treated, fumigated, or treated with preservatives before they
leave China for the U.S. Shipments that do not contain solid wood
packing material must be accompanied by a exporter
document.
