The occurrence of marine debris on the
beaches of Padre Island National Seashore is believed to be a
visual detractor for and a hazard to park visitors. As part of an
ongoing research project aimed at determining the sources of marine
debris and the associated impacts of this debris, Padre Island
National Seashore needs to determine the impact on the visitors
experience to the park. Visitors surveyed will include winter,
summer, day use, and overnight park visitors. This information will
be used by park management and local, State, and Federal agencies
to better manage coastal resources and improve the visitors'
experience.
