EPA has made a
reasonable effort to accurately estimate burden given the limited
available information. This estimate relied primarily on a survey
of seven states. Based on this survey, EPA has estimated an average
burden of 60 hours per source water assessment. EPA further
estimates that approximately 25 percent of source water assessments
will be completed by the expiration date for this ICR of August
2000. At that time, better information should be available
regarding the amount of time actually being spent on source water
assessments. EPA should revise its burden estimates as appropriate
at that time.
