Abstract: The Fish and Wildlife Service collects information on the status of threatened and endangered species reintroduced as "experimental populations" in order to document the success of introductions conducted to achieve recovery goals. The Endangered Species Act of 1973 provides for use of experimental populations designations under section 10(j). Currently, 7 such populations are in effect.
