amended by ED's memoranda to OMB of 9/8/97 and 9/18/97. In
addition, ED has agreed to the following changes in order to
improve utility prior to distribution: ED agrees that the student's
pin number will appear next to the student's I.D. number at the top
of each part of the SAR; ED will, in the context of FAFSA redesign,
develop a procedure for providing the student with a summary sheet
that reduces the amount of paperwork required under the current
system; ED will, in the context of FAFSA redesign, develop a new
process by which a student deletes an answer that appears on the
information request form or information review form; ED will, in
the context of FAFSA redesign, eliminate requests for duplicative
data within the SAR; ED agrees that compute edit comment 150 will
include a "HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NOW" provision; ED agrees
that all students will receive an instruction similar to the "HERE
IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NOW" provision.

The Student Aid Report (SAR) is used
to notify all applicants of their eligibility to receive Federal
student aid for postsecondary education. The form is submitted by
the applicant to the institution of their choice.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
