This information
collection is approved through 7-99 under the conditions outlined
in the July 18, 1997 ARS letter and the following: As agreed to by
the Agency, ARS will revise their contract provisions to require
the contractor to obtain addresses for the substantial majority of
the universe it proposes to sample. Future OMB approval of the full
scale CSFII planned in 1999 will be contingent upon a cummulative
response rate in the pilot test of at least 80%. If this is not
achieved, ARS will return to the previous method of in-person
interviews for the main study. Any further research and/or data
collection, as referenced on pg. 2, must receive approval by OMB
under the PRA process. In addition, absent substantial validation
which could be built into the pilot, the use of this data for
pesticide, food additive and contaminants may lack practical
utility. ARS shall report on validation of data for this purpose.
Finally, as indicated by ARS and NCHS, the agencies will coordinate
and integrate the dietary portion of NHANES and CSFII prior to the
fielding of the main study.
