Abstract: Application for Employment, Form FD-140, is utilized to collect pertinent background information on all applicants for FBI positions. The FD-140 is used in lieu of Standard Form 86, as the FD-140 addresses suitability as well as security concerns beyond the scope of the SF-86. Form FD-406, Authority to Release Information is incorporated into the FD-140 as it is required to obtain necessary records.
