Abstract: P.L. 83-566 AUTHORIZES THE SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS IN PLANNING AND CARRYING OUT WATERSHED PROJECTS. SECTION 3 OF THE LAW REQUIRES TH SECRETARY TO DETERMINE WHETHER BENEFITS EXCEED ANTICIPATED COSTS OF A PROJECT. THIS DETERMINATION MUST BE PROJECT SPECIFIC AND, THEREFORE, INFORMATION MUST BE COLLECTED FROM THE AFFECTED AREAS.
