design which involves monthly interviews with the recipient will
not set a precendent for approval of other evaluations which are
otherwise so burdensome. OMB approves of the design in this
specific instance due to the rapid flux and change in maternal and
infant breastfeeding patterns and circumstances.

FNS NEEDS INFORMATION TO DESIGN
NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMS FOR WIC INFANTS. THIS STUDY GATHERS
INFORMATION ON BREASTFEEDING, FORMULA FEEDING, USE OF SOLID FOODS,
AND ON THE ATTIDUTES, KNOWLEDGE, AND LIVING ARRANGEMEN THAT SHAPE
WIC INFANT FEEDING PRACTICES. ABOUT 700 MOTHERS OF WIC INFANTS ARE
INTERVIEWED IN A 1-YEAR LONGITUDINAL STUDY.
