FEDERAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT. INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM PETITIONING
GROUPS PROVIDES ANTHROPOLOGICAL, GENEALOGICAL, AND HISTORICAL DATA
USED BY BUREAU STAFF TO RECOMMEND DETERMINATIONS OF WHETHER GROUPS
HAVE DEMONSTRATED CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED AS
FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBES.
