Abstract: AN EPIDEMIOLOGIC STUDY WILL BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE WHETHER THYROID DISEASE IS INCREASED AMONG PERSONS EXPOSED AS YOUNG CHILDREN TO RADIOACTIVE IODINE RELEASED FROM THE HANFORD NUCLEAR SITE. A PILOT STUDY IS BEING CONDUCTED TO TEST PROCEDURES AND DETERMINE ACTUAL LEVEL OF EXPOSURE. A FULL EPIDEMIOLOGIC STUDY WILL FOLLOW THE PILOT PHASE.
