the approval applies only to the core data set whic will be used,
along with individual grantee evaluations, to evaluate t National
Head Start/ Public School Early Childhood Transition Study. ACF
recognizes that this study is designed to gain information on only
short-term outcomes; an adequate evaluation must examine long-term
outcomes on the children participating in the program. In addition,
O approval is conditioned upon ACF compensating respondents a
maximum of $15 for transportation and child care.

THE NATIONAL HEAD START/PUBLIC SCHOOL
EARLY CHILDHOOD TRANSITION DEMONSTRATION PROJECT ADDRESSES THE
EFFECTIVENESS OF PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE, CONTINOUS, AND
COORDINATED SERVICES TO HEAD START FAMILIES AND CHILDREN.
INFORMATION IS CRITICAL TO EVALUATE THIS 32-SITE TRIAL OF THIS
PROGRAM AND TO INFORM PUBLIC POLICY AND PRACTITIONERS ABOUT
SUCCESSFUL TRANSTIONS TO SCHOOL.
