Abstract: WE ARE MAKING THE TRANSITION FROM PERSONAL INTERVIEWING TO COMPUTER -ASSISTED TELEPHONE INTERVIEWING FOR THE POINT OF PURCHASE SURVEY (CPP CPP DATA ARE USED TO PERIODICALLY UPDATE THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX. THE 1993 AND 1994 TEST SURVEYS WILL BE USED TO FURTHER STUDY THE BENEFITS AND PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SWITCH.
