In accordance
with the Paperwork Reduction Act and 5 CFR 1320, this information
collection request (ICR) is approved for use through 2/92. If the
USGS chooses to resubmit this ICR to OMB, the USGS shall furthe
clarify the procedures it uses to coordinate with other federal
agenci involved in water research to ensure potential research
efforts are no duplicated and research results are adequately
disseminated. Further, USGS shall provide the following additional
information: (1) an item- by-item justification of how the
information collected in the "Project Summary" section of the grant
application is used as a basis of projec selection; specifically
with regard to the "Approach" and the "Result users" sections and;
(2) the criteria used to evaluate a project based on information
derived from the "Principal investigator information" section.

THE APPLICATION INFORMATION IDENTIFIES RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL
