Approval is
granted for a generic clearance for voluntary surveys of foreign
nationals conducted outside the U.S. to fulfill USIA's
responsibilities under Sec. 6 of Exec. Order 12048. Individual
survey need not be submitted to OMB for review prior to use. USIA
must report quarterly to OMB what surveys were undertaken under
authority o this clearance, the number of responses and burden
hours for each survey, and the total number of responses and burden
hours for the fiscal year. All surveys must conform to the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980 and OMB regulations at 5 CFR
1320.

RELATED DATA ARE COLLECTED BY MEANS OF SAMPLE SURVEYS AMONG
REPRESENTATIVE POPULATION GROUPS FOR STATISTICAL ANALYSIS PURPOSES.
RESPONDENTS PARTICIPATE VOLUNTARILY AND ANONYMOUSLY. THE FINDINGS
ARE IMPORTANT TO FOREIGN POLICY DELIBERATIONS AND ALSO SERVE TO
