This proposed
screen for board and care homes is approved with the understanding
that HHS will submit by 11/90 additional materials describing the
relationship of this screen to other Department research projects
on board and care homes. These materials should describe future and
existing efforts for researching the characteristics of and quality
of care provided by board and care homes. To the maximum extent
possible, this description should outline the major
questions/issues the Department intends to investigate. These
issues should be consistent with the Department's policy goals, GAO
recommendations, and OIG recommendations. The description should
include a preliminary schedule for addressing each of these areas
of concern. Lastly, to the maximum extent possible, the Department
should describe each planned research effort, statistical
methodologies, and anticipated resource needs. The research plans
can contain more than one option for approaching each research
effort.
