Abstract: RESULTS FROM THE SURVEY OF SOLE PROPRIETORSHIPS WILL BE USED BY THE CENSUS BUREAU TO ESTIMATE UNDERCOVERAGE IN THE SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP COMPONENT OF THE 1987 ECONOMIC CENSUSES. ALSO, THE BUREAU OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS (BEA) WILL USE THE INFORMATION TO UPDATE SEVERAL MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE ADJUSTMENT THAT ACCOUNT FOR MISREPORTING OF TAX RETURN INFORMATION USED TO ESTIMATE GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT (GNP).
