Abstract: THE GAMES OF CHANCE RULE WAS ISSUED IN 1969 TO PREVENT DECEPTIVE PRACTICES IN THE MARKETING OF PRESELECTED WINNERS SWEEPSTAKES BY THE FOOD RETAILING AND GASOLINE INDUSTRIES. THE PROPOSED REVISIONS WILL ACCOMPLISH THE CONSUMER INFORMATION DISCLOSURE GOALS OF THE RULE WHILE SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCING THE BURDENS OF COMPLIANCE FOR THE AFFECTED INDUSTRIES.
