NSF has not made
a convincing case that all of the data items on OMB form #3145-0019
need to be collected on an annual basis. While information from
these items may have utility for statistical purposes, OMB does not
believe that such information needs to be collected each year. In
order to maintain the registry of doctoral recipients, only a
subset of the proposed items is necessary. Consequently, for this
survey cycle and every other year thereafter, this instrument shall
not include the following items: 1) question #6 2) question #11 3)
under question #12, year of high school graduation 4) under
question #13, years attended 5) question #14 6) question #15 7)
question #16 8) question #18 9) question #19 10) question #20 11)
question #26 and 12) the signature.
