Abstract: PART OF THE 1987 CENSUS OF GOVERNMENTS. FORMS REQUEST DATA ON STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT, GROSS EMPLOYEE PAY, GOVERNMENT COSTS FOR EMPLOYEE BENEFITS, AND LABOR-MANAGEMENT RELATIONS. RESULTS ARE USED BY FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND AGENCIES, AS WELL AS BY PUBLIC INTEREST GROUPS, ACADEMIC INSTRUCTORS AND RESEARCHERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
