Approval is
granted for three years, with the understanding that earli review
of this action may be required. A program reduction of 14,820,678
burden hours is included in this submission. It is our
understanding that this reduction is based on acquisition
streamlining and simplification efforts, such as reducing the
number of specifications that have to be referred to in the
solicitation process continued efforts to automate the small
purchase process, and greater use of telephone quotations versus
written submissions. We are encouraged to see DoD efforts toward
streamlining its acquisition of goods and services and toward
greater use of automation in its acquisition of goods and services,
particularly in small purchase contracts. In order to monitor
progress in implementing these importa initiatives, DoD should
include a status report on them in any request for extension of
this clearance.
