THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTAL
HEALTH, STATE MENTAL HEALTH COMMISSIONERS, STATE & LOCAL
SERVICE PERSONNEL, & RESEARCHERS HAVE UNDERSCORED THE NEED FOR
ASSESSMENT TOOLS TO AID IN DETERMINING HOW BE TO SERVE THE
CHRONICALLY MENTALLY ILL IN THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE MANNE SIX
SERVICE SITES IN TWO STATES, INVOLVING CASE MANAGERS OF 450
CHRONICALLY MENTALLY ILL PERSONS WILL BE USED TO PILOT TEST A COST
OUTCOME METHODOLOGY TO MEET THIS NEED.
