THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE USES THE
SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO DOCUMENT AND AUTHORIZE SPECIAL USES OF PUBLIC
LAND THAT ARE OTHERWISE RESTRICTED. PERMITS ARE ISSUED TO
INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS AND AGENCIES. THE PERMITS ARE NECESSARY
TO DETERMINE WHETHER A PROPOSED ACTIVITY IS AUTHORIZED BY LAW AND
TO EVALUATE THE POTENTIAL EFFECTS ON PARK RESOURCES.
