Abstract: IN RESPONSE TO THE NEED FOR POLICY-RELEVANT TIME SERIES DATA ON NATIONALLY REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLES OF HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORES AND SENIORS, NCES INSTITUTED THE NATIONAL LONGITUDINAL STUDIES (NLS) PROGRAM. TWO COMPONENTS OF NLS ARE THE NLS-72 AND HS&B STUDIES. THESE STUDIES ARE DESIGNED TO EXAMINE LONGITUDINALLY THE EDUCATIONAL, VOCATIONAL, AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
