Abstract: IN RESPONSE TO THE NEED FOR POLICY RELEVANT TIME SERIES DATA ON A NATIONALLY REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, NCES INSTITUTED THE NATIONAL LONGITUDINAL STUDIES (NLS) PROGRAM. ONE MAJOR COMPONENT OF THE NLS PROGRAM IS THE HIGH SCHOOL AND BEYOND (HS&B) STUD HS&B IS A NATIONALLY REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF 1980 HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORES AND SENIORS. HS&B DATA IS USED TO STUDY LONGITUDINALLY THE EDUCATIONAL, VOCATIONAL, AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
